Get Inspired: Budget Birthday Parties Can Be Great!

Moving houses this year, coupled with all four of my kids being in school, has done a number on my bank account! All of the random school t-shirt orders and field trips and kids outgrowing the shoes I bought like two weeks ago have combined to make the wiggle room in our budget non-existent. Naturally, two of our children have birthdays this month and have been looking forward to having a fun birthday party for months. My oldest son celebrated his ninth birthday and my oldest daughter will be celebrated her sixth. Although we’ve done joint birthday parties for them before (their birthdays are only three days apart), I had planned on letting them have separate parties this year. Imagine my surprise when they asked to have their party together this year! On Bon Bon Break: Tips for Tailgating With Kids

If your family is anything like ours, we LOVE Fall! Football is synonymous with Fall around here, and we try to attend a couple of college games (Roll Tide) each year. My husband and I like to make it a fun adult getaway when we can get help with the Herd, but it’s not a given that a babysitter will be available on a football Saturday in the South. Instead of scrapping the travel plans like we used to do when the kids were younger, we have now decided to haul them along for the experience since they are a little bit older and everyone is potty-trained and bottle-free, which makes travel supplies slightly less daunting. The fantastic crew over at Bon Bon Break liked my Tips for Tailgating with Kids and selected it as one of their September theme “Simplify” feature posts, sponsored by a really cool app called Komae. Go check out my Tips and tell me if you have other ideas that I should add to this list! If you like the post share it with your friends… Bon Bon Break pays me based on the number of people that read it!

Looking for something a little different to put on the grill when you Tailgate this Football Season? I have an awesome recipe for you to keep in mind, and it’s super easy but will tempt the taste buds of everyone surrounding your party. I present to you our new favorite, Bacon Wrapped Burger Dogs. What is it? A cheese stick encased with hand-pattied, well-seasoned ground beef that is then wrapped in raw bacon, secured with toothpicks, and grilled until the meat surrounding the cheese has finished cooking. The cheese should also be well-melted and the bacon on the outside deliciously crispy. How Does It Taste? Like Angels are singing on your tastebuds, if singing angels tasted like an amazing grill-masterpiece. Ingredients 3 pounds of Ground Beef (Deer, Elk, Turkey etc.) 1 Pound of Ground Pork 1 Pack of Cheddar Cheese Snack Sticks 1 Pack of Bacon Toothpicks 1) Begin by seasoning your ground meat with whatever seasonings you prefer. We used Southern Flavor and Garlic Salt to flavor ours. The ground beef could be substituted with another ground meat if you wish, just as we used ground deer meat in making ours. Next time I want to add ground pork…
