Gatlinburg Falls Resort

Oh my goodness, Gatlinburg Falls Resort is one of my favorite places that I’ve stayed on a family vacation. Last month my husband, our pack of kids, and I all went to Gatlinburg for a short getaway. We debated on whether to get a stand-alone cabin from a vacation rental agency, go back to Wilderness at The Smokies, or finding somewhere new to stay. Because I’m an adventurer, I got in touch with Gatlinburg Falls to ask them about reviewing their property (which looked AMAZING on the Gatlinburg Falls website) and they graciously agreed to work with me. One amazing thing about the Gatlinburg Falls property is that it’s SO CLOSE to downtown Gatlinburg. Having stayed in Pigeon Forge before as well as a cabin way out in the woods near Sevierville (both are near Gatlinburg), it was such a treat to spend less time driving to and from other locations we wanted to visit by staying so close to everything. Gatlinburg Falls combines the best of both worlds: guests stay in an actual cabin with porches, hot tubs an some of the other “must-have” amenities travelers look for when they search for a cabin for a mountains vacation but…

Monmouth Historic Inn: A Sweet Southern Getaway

If you’re looking for a romantic way to spend Valentine’s Day, or a location for an Anniversary trip, I’ve found a destination that you’ll adore! Monmouth Historic Inn, located in fabulously Nachez, Mississippi, meets the needs of those escaping the demands of everyday living with beautiful surroundings, fascinating history, and luxury beyond compare for its guests. Weary from our six-hour drive from Montgomery, arriving at Monmouth was like reaching an oasis for sleep. Signs directed me to the clearly-marked check-in station, situated in a building next to the main house (I later learned it was originally the kitchen building when Monmouth was a plantation). A sweet and personable staff member welcomed me to the Monmouth Historic Inn and quickly acquainted me with the lay out of the estate and also filled me in on the included breakfast arrangements for the next morning, all while handling my check in proceedings. She handed me my key and told me how to reach her if I needed her, then we drove to our assigned suite at the Carriage House. My reservations were for a fantastic Queen Suite in the Carriage House. I climbed a few steps to the front porch of the Carriage…

Bellingrath Gardens Magic Christmas in Lights

Is there an annual attraction or experience you’ve always admired from afar, thinking “Man, that’s something I’d love to see”? I have an entire bucket list of these, and last night was an exciting chance for me to mark one of them off! Seeing Bellingrath Gardens Magic Christmas in Lights finally became a reality for me, and it was even more amazing than I’d always imagined it would be. Yesterday afternoon all six of us, along with two friends of ours and their sweet daughter, G, loaded up and headed to Bellingrath Gardens (just outside of Mobile, Alabama) for an evening of fun. Originally a fishing camp purchased for relaxation by Walter Bellingrath, Mobile’s original Coca-Cola bottler, Bellingrath Gardens is a high-priority destination for lovers of beautiful horticulture, gardening, and history. His wife, Bessie, was well-known in Mobile for her gardening skills, particularly her azaleas, and began bringing cuttings from her plants out to the fishing camp. The Gardens grew more impressive each year, but grew phenomenally after the Bellingraths toured luxurious gardens throughout Europe. They sought out a prominent Mobile architect, George Rogers, to design a master plan for their elaborate gardens in addition to the 10,000+ square foot…
