Stone Mountain Park

Visiting Stone Mountain Park is something I have always wanted to do… The attractions are spectacular and the scenery is lengendary… So when I began scouring the South for great family-friendly vacation destinations, I was thrilled when I discovered that Stone Mountain is so reasonably priced. The laserlight show had amazing reviews all over the internet, and various friends I asked about it said they try to go at least once a summer. Stone Mountsin Park certainly sounded like a fantastic place for our Summer vacation! We looked at the website as a family several times… The kids were all thrilled to see the attractions and quickly began voicing what they just HAD to do first! Between the SkyHike, the Scenic Railroad, and the Great Barn, I began wondering if we would be able to fit everything into one day. I knew that it would be a marathon day of nonstop fun… I just hoped that my husband and I would be able to keep up with the kids! After a great night’s sleep at The Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Resort, we drove down to the park….. And it was raining. Yep. Raining. I was momentarily horrified, and wondering if our…

Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Resort

When I knew we would be vacationing at Stone Mountain Park, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, I started looking into lodging possibilities for my family during our trip. On the awesome Stone Mountain Park website, I noticed that there were actually TWO hotels within the actual park gates… Getting to see the beautiful scenery of the Park from my hotel room was very attractive, and also the sheer convenience of staying so close to the park attractions was enough to sell me on saying at The Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Resort… Especially with all four of our kids in tow! Stone Mountain Park connected me with the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Resort representative, and she was incredibly helpful in securing a reservation for my family during the dates of our planned Stone Mountain trip. After entering Stone Mountain park, we easily found our way to the entrance of the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Resort, and I was taken with it’s manicured landscaping and beautiful, sprawling grounds. The resort was nestled amongst the trees and along the the Stone Mountain park lake. I mean, how much more perfect can it get?! Incredibly peaceful and luxurious, but not so modern and upscale that it looks…

One Night at the Castle; A Medieval Times Review

Taking my four children to Medieval Times is something I’ve wanted to do for quite sometime, and the opportunity finally presented itself during our family vacation to the Atlanta, GA area this past weekend. After easily checking in at the ticket booth, we walked in to the Castle and were immediately welcomed and given our Medieval Times crowns. Our youngest daughter was elated… she had been looking forward to getting that crown since I showed her pictures of where we would be going! We then had a group picture made with the King, who was very friendly and showed the kids the huge (REAL) sword he was holding. Entering the lobby was an exciting experience within itself… there was a huge roaring fireplace, several suits of armor (that my boys were fascinated with… “No son, we can not buy a suit of armor to take home”… and a HUGE bar for adults to buy a pre-dinner drink (or three). The selection at the bar was wide and varied… my husband chose his favorite beer in a glass souvenir mug and I opted for a glass of wine, but I won’t lie, the daiquiri dispensers tempted me! We walked around the…
